FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Do you accept insurance?

Sorry, we don’t – this is a direct pay practice. However, we are committed to providing affordable alternative healthcare for our community so we offer community acupuncture—acupuncture in a group setting with sliding scale payment. Click here to learn more.

  2. Do the acupuncture needles hurt?

Acupuncture needles are flexible and very thin, compared to the size of human hair. They are inserted just into the surface of the skin to stimulate various points on the body. Some patients feel a tiny poke when the needles are inserted. If the needle feels uncomfortable after one minute, let your acupuncturist know so they can adjust the needle. During your acupuncture treatment, you should have a feeling of relaxation.

  3. Is acupuncture safe?

Acupuncture is very safe when performed by a licensed acupuncturist (all of our staff is licensed). The needles are sterile, single-use acupuncture needles and safely disposed of after each session.

  4. What should I wear?

For acupuncture and most other treatments, please dress in comfortable clothing that can be rolled up to access the lower legs and arms. Acupuncture needles are usually placed on the feet, hands, arms, and lower legs with some placed on other parts of the body. For massage, please undress to your level of comfort under the sheet.

  5. Do you treat children?

Yes, we do. We have needle-free techniques for younger patients. Children usually respond well to herbal remedies.

  6. Can I get acupuncture or other treatments while pregnant?

Yes, acupuncture, massage, and our other treatments are supportive of a healthy pregnancy. Please communicate all of your concerns to your therapist so we can be sure to adjust your treatment specifically for all of your symptoms.
